District 5030 Service Fund (Foundation)
What is Our Mission?

The Rotary District 5030 Service Fund is a 501 (c) (3) tax exempt organization, established on August 23, 2004.

The Service Fund exists to support Rotary clubs and Rotarians in District 5030. Its purpose is to receive, hold in trust, and disburse funds for projects designated by Rotary clubs or for District-level projects. Many clubs do not have their own tax-exempt foundation, and the Service Fund can serve that purpose for them.

Rotary Clubs and Rotarians must complete an application requesting acceptance of a project before monies can be received.

The Service Fund can accept funds from non-Rotary organizations, e.g. corporations, other NGOs, for approved projects. It can also receive funds from other districts and their clubs. In these cases, the funds must be project-specific and requested by either a club or the District leadership, to be accepted by the Service Fund.

It is not the intent of the Service Fund to solicit bequests or gifts, or in any way to compete with the Rotary Foundation.

What We’ve Done

Following are examples where the Service Fund acted as a funds conduit for Club projects:
  • Pakistan Relief Project: Rotary clubs, World Vision, Mercy Corps, CARE USA and a Rotarian’s Donor Advised Fund contributed $36,950 following the devastating October 2005 earthquake.
  • District 5030 Dictionary Project: District 5030 clubs contributed approximately $22,000 to purchase dictionaries for 3rd and 4th grade students. The Service Fund received the funds and, on behalf of the District Project, paid Houghton Mifflin.
  • Pakistan Water Project: Seattle #4 led this multiple club Matching Grant project. The Service Fund held and dispersed funds from 16 participating Rotary Clubs ($26,600).
