A Seattle native, Sally Mackle completed both her BA and MPA degrees from the University of Washington.  Her career over the past twenty years has spanned academia, the for-profit and the not-for-profit sectors.

She spent seven years at the University of Washington Evans School of Public Affairs, first as Director of a Cooperative Education Program and later as Assistant Dean. 

She then spent 11 years in the health care field as Vice President of Marketing for a major regional medical center in the Seattle area.  Her non-profit work includes serving as Chief Marketing Officer at King Country Red Cross and Washington State Special Olympics. 

Sally is a member of Seattle 4 Rotary club, one of the largest in the world.  She chairs the International Service Committee and is a board member of the Seattle Rotary Service Foundation for that club. 

Sally is currently Vice President at the Washington Council on International Trade, a trade policy and advocacy organization, where she directs the educational program and is also responsible for membership development. 

Sally lives in Kirkland Washington,  with her husband and cat, and has two grown sons and a daughter-in-law who live in Seattle.  Her activities include sailing, hiking, reading, genealogy and educational travel. 

Joy Beatty, PT

Joy was born in a small town in Kentucky, a state across the country from Seattle, WA. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Louisville. From the University of Kentucky she earned both a Bachelor of Health Sciences and a Masters in Physical Therapy.

Upon graduation from college, Joy moved to Seattle. She now works as a physical therapist at the University of Washington Sports Medicine Clinic. The clinic works with athletes of all levels and serves as a teaching facility to healthcare professionals and the community. Joy became a physical therapist to help others, but found her patients teach her just as much about overcoming obstacles on a daily basis.

Since moving to Seattle Joy's outdoor interests have broadened to include snowboarding in the mountains and kayaking in the ocean. The lush and varied landscape of the northwest has increased

Tell Bennett, MD

Tell was raised in the Seattle area and was educated primarily in Texas and Maryland. He was very excited to accept a job in Seattle and return home a year and half ago.

His undergraduate degrees from Rice University were in ecology and history, and environmental issues remain a strong interest. He studied medicine at Johns Hopkins University and is currently working as a resident pediatrician at Children's Hospital in Seattle. He has also worked in elementary education and
counseling, biomedical research, and international health. Emergency medical services and public health-based improvements in child health are among his professional interests.

Tell spends much of his free time outdoors. The region surrounding Seattle is stunningly beautiful and ecologically rich. He enjoys road and mountain biking, mountaineering, whitewater kayaking, and other outdoor pursuits.

Katie was born and raised south of San Francisco, California before moving to San Diego for college.  At the University of California at San Diego she obtained a degree in Bio-engineering while playing soccer for college
team.  She also conducted research in stroke rehabilitation while in southern California.

Pursuing a degree in medicine, Katie moved east to New York City for four years.  While there she was involved in medical care for the homeless and low-income Spanish populations.  In 1998, she moved to Seattle for her residency in Anesthesiology at Virginia Mason Medical Center, an affiliate of the University of Washington.  A strong interest in medicine abroad brought Katie to the Amazon in Peru for several months in 2000.  She plans to move back east next year for a fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesia at Boston Children's Hospital.  Then she plans to settle in Seattle after her training is complete.

Currently, Katie is also involved in a gospel choir, a homeless shelter, and a soccer team.  She also loves exploring the Pacific Northwest with friends by running, hiking, and camping.

Jennifer Lavine, MSW

Jen was born in Columbus, Ohio. She completed her undergraduate studies at American University in Washington, D.C., and went on to earn a Masters degree in Social Work at The Catholic University of America. She then moved to New Haven, Connecticut to complete a two year clinical fellowship in
play and family therapy at Yale University - Child Study Center.

Jen moved to Seattle in 1996, and began working at The University of Washington Medical Center as a Perinatal Social Worker. She worked in high risk obstetrics for five years, and a year ago transitioned to the Pediatric Care Center at UWMC to establish and develop social work services in that area.

Outside of work she enjoys hiking, cooking, skiing and traveling.
